Looks like someone's hitting the pause button on spring.
Sunday's technically the first day of spring, but it could look a lot more like winter in the D.C. area, said Storm Team4.
A storm could begin Saturday night and continue into Sunday, bringing a wintry mix of snow and rain. Snow could fall in the District and in areas north and west of the city, with some areas getting up to a couple of inches of snow.
However, the storm's effect will likely be a mild one, meaning that snow will most likely accumulate only on grassy areas. Most roads shouldn't be affected, Storm Team4 said, because the ground temperature likely will keep any snow from sticking to the pavement.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has directed the D.C. Snow Team to deploy Saturday night starting at 9 p.m.
The Snow Team is asking drivers to be careful and, if possible, to take public transportation instead.
Before the storm, residents and businesses should put down pet-friendly deicer, salt or non-clumping kitty litter to the sidewalks around their properties, the Snow Team said.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said Friday afternoon that it will monitor weather conditions and will have crews treat roads as needed.
Areas east of I-95 will mostly just get rain.
