Friends, family, still waiting on cause of death

Tekau Rasayonm, a promising 17-year-old Surratsvile High School senior, collapsed while jogging at school. Friends are honoring her memory today by wearing pink, her favorite color. News4’s Derrick Ward has more.

Family and friends are still waiting to hear what caused a student from Clinton to collapse at school and died Wednesday afternoon.

Tekau Rasayon, a 17-year-old senior at Surrattsville High School collapsed while jogging on the track during a physical education class. She was taken to Southern Maryland Hospital where she later died.

Her father says she did not have a history of heart problems, and played basketball and volleyball in the past.

Tekau’s classmates plan to wear pink to school on Thursday, which is Tekau’s favorite color, in her memory. The school says it will provide counselors all week to help classmates cope.
