Prince George's County Police Officer Charged With Extortion

A Prince George’s County pofficer and his alleged accomplice are facing charges of conspiring to commit extortion under color of official right, according to the U.S. Justice Department.

The defendants, Sinisa Simic, a 25 year-old Prince George’s County police officer, and Mirza Kunjundzic, 30, are both residents of Woodbridge, Va.

The charges come from a superseding indictment issued Monday by a federal grand jury. 

This new indictment charges that the defendants conspired to pay police officers in exchange for the officers using their official authority to ensure the safe transport and distribution of untaxed cigarettes in Maryland and Virginia, according to the Justice Department

The indictment also includes previous charges against Simic and Kunjundzic of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and with the use of firearms in the carrying-out of drug trafficking.
