Police Search for Taser-Wielding Robber

Police are searching for a man who used a Taser to rob another man at an outdoor ATM machine in Montgomery County, Md.

The robbery took place at the Germantown branch of the Bank of America late one night last week. Montgomery County Officer Amy Daum said a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt approached the victim as he sat in his car at the ATM.

"He walked up to the driver’s side and threatened the victim with a stun gun," Daum said. "The victim drove away and the suspect got away with the cash and the card.”

Daum said although Tasers can be legally purchased in Maryland, they’re treated like handguns.

Tasers also are legal in Virginia, but not in D.C.
