Pepco Sponsors Southeast Elementary School Students for National Robotics Competiton

Thursday was a special day for the Robotics Team at Payne Elementary School in Southeast D.C. because Pepco sponsored their trip to compete in the 2017 Vex IQ Tournament in Kentucky. The students were nominated for the elementary school STEM contest in April because of a special robot they designed, but their school could not afford the trip. That’s when Pepco stepped in and donated $5,000 to reward their “tenacity and hunger for innovation and learning.” One of the students said the robot made a classmate who has a prosthetic leg feel happy that people cared about him.
