Beltway Reopens After Tanker Crash, Fuel Spill

A tanker truck spilled hundreds of gallons of fuel on the outer loop of the Beltway. News4’s Jackie Bensen talked to drivers stuck in the mess.

The outer loop of the Capital Beltway reopened about 9 p.m. after a crash resulting in 700 gallons of tanker fuel spilling onto the roadway.

All lanes of the Outer Loop were were shut down at St. Barnabas Road in Maryland after 4 p.m. due to the crash and fuel spill.

At least three vehicles were involved in the crash with the tanker.

The remaining fuel was siphoned from the tanker. There are no reports of injuries from the crash.
