A police officer riding a Segway in Northwest D.C. was hit by a van Tuesday afternoon and seriously hurt, police say.
The officer was riding in a marked crosswalk near North Capitol Street and Blair Road when she was hit about 12:30 p.m., police said.
The officer was taken to a hospital, where she is recovering.
No information was available immediately on whether the driver was charged.
Police closed off the area to investigate. It later reopened.
