D.C. police are investigating a shooting involving an off-duty police officer in Southeast Friday evening.

The officer was working security in full uniform at an apartment building in the 300 block of Anacostia Road SE and encountered a group of people about 6:40 p.m., police said. One person in the group had a gun, police said.

The off-duty officer shot a man and a 17-year-old boy, police said. They were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.
