19-year-old man found shot to death near Ashburn apartment complex

Loudoun County deputies responded to the Ashburn Meadows apartments on Keller Square off Gloucester Parkway after residents reported gunfire

NBC Universal, Inc. A young man was shot and killed Wednesday night at the Ashburn Meadows apartment complex. News4’s Aimee Cho reports on the victim and the investigation.

A 19-year-old man was found shot and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Ashburn, Virginia, Wednesday night, authorities said.

Loudoun County sheriff's deputies responded to residents' reports of gunfire at the Ashburn Meadows apartments in the 44400 block of Keller Square off Gloucester Parkway at about 7:30 p.m. after multiple 911 calls.

Michai Dandridge-Carter of Sterling was found dead in the parking lot.

Dandridge-Carter’s father said his son was a straight-A student at Northern Virginia Community College who loved art and music and stayed out of trouble. He said he couldn’t understand why anyone would want to kill his son.

“The body’s still in my head,” said neighbor Zena Cantuba, who saw the crime scene as she returned home from work. “Like, I don’t think it’s gonna be peace for a while. But I’m worried more about the kids that play around here.”

No information on possible circumstances of the shooting or a suspect was immediately released. The sheriff's office said they don’t believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.

At the same apartment complex in 2016, a gang-related stabbing killed one man and injured another, according to prosecutors.
