New Law Proposals Could Crack Down on Debt Collectors

Debt collectors could face a crackdown with new laws proposed that would regulate their practices. Regulations of the billion-dollar industry that affects about 70 million people include limiting calls to six per week, barring collectors from suing for debt and requiring collectors to know for certain how much money is owed before collecting.
