New Coast Guard HQ Opens Next Week

The U.S. Coast Guard is set to open its sprawling new headquarters on the grounds of the old St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in southeast Washington. The Coast Guard will be the first tenant in the new Homeland Security compound. Roughly 4,000 Coast Guard workers will occupy more than 1 million square feet. City officials tell News4’s Tom Sherwood they hope the project will revitalize Martin Luther King Avenue.
