Metro's Largest Union Votes in Favor of Strike

Six-thousand members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 lined up to vote Sunday on whether to authorize a strike. A spokesperson for the union said about 9:30 p.m. that 94 percent of them voted in favor of a strike in “an overwhelming landslide.”
