Metro Track Work May Make You Late to See the Biebs, Caps

Metro riders should expect delays on the Red, Orange and Silver lines

You may want to give yourself some extra time if you plan on using the Red Line this weekend. Metro is using its off-peak hours to do some track work. News4’s Molette Green has more on this weekend’s single-tracking.

“Is it too late now to say ‘sorry?'” We regret to inform you that you may be late to the multiple events happening downtown this weekend, including the Justin Bieber concert and the Caps-Penguins playoff game at the Verizon Center, due to Metro track work.

Metro riders should expect delays on the Red, Orange and Silver lines starting 8 p.m. Friday and lasting through closing Sunday, a release from the Verizon Center warned. Trains will single-track between Medical Center and Friendship Heights Metro stops.

Starting just after midnight Saturday, Orange and Silver line trains will operate every 18 minutes. Trains will single-track between the Ballston and East Falls Church Metro stops.

Riders planning to attend events at the Verizon Center should prepare to add up to 20 minutes to their commute, a Verizon Center spokeswoman recommended.
