Memorial Events for Chuck Brown Next Week

Viewing at Howard Theatre; Memorial at Convention Center

The plans for a public memorial for music legend Chuck Brown have been set. News4’s Shomari Stone reports.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and the family of Chuck Brown announced the memorial events that will be held for the Godfather of Go-Go, who died last week.

A public viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday at Howard Theatre. The public memorial will follow two days later from noon to 3 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center.

The public is encouraged to use public transportation to reach each event, as parking is limited.

Brown, who was instrumental in creating D.C.’s go-go sound, died May 16 from complications from pneumonia after several weeks in the hospital.
