Gemmell Family: Vigil Held for Mom, Toddler, Newborn Killed in Plane Crash

A community paid its respects to a woman and her two young sons who were killed when a plane crashed into their neighborhood this week. News4’s Derrick Ward has more on the tribute.

A candlelight vigil was held Friday night for the mother and two small children who lost their lives after a plane crashed into their Gaithersburg, Maryland, home this week.

Marie Gemmell, 36; her seven-week-old baby, Devin; and her three-year-old son, Cole, were killed Monday when a private jet crashed into their home. All three men aboard the jet were killed as well.

The vigil was held in front of the crash site at Drop Forge Lane.

Gemmell's husband, Ken Gemmell, and their five-year-old daughter were not home at the time of the crash. The family is accepting donations through a GoFundMe account here, which has already raised more than $430,000.

Donations of gift cards, toiletries, cards and other items can be sent to the Kid's Town Learning Center in Germantown.
