A Prince George's County woman who was set on fire while she was pregnant can't believe a judge is letting the man accused of the crime out of jail.
Andrea Grinage sustained burns to more than 70 percent of her body when her then-boyfriend, 34-year-old Laquinn Phillips, doused her with a flammable liquid and set her on fire in her apartment in Capitol Heights, Maryland, on Sept. 6, 2017, police say.
Phillips was set to go on trial this week, but that trial was delayed until December. A judge is allowing Phillips to be released with an ankle monitor until his attempted murder trial.
"I don't understand how the judge would even consider giving him a second chance. He doesn't deserve it. He tried to take my life and my daughter's life," Grinage said.
Grinage's daughter, Journey, survived the attack.
Grinage said that Phillips was abusive in their relationship, but she did not expect the attack.
"I did not see that coming," she told News4 last year.

She had filed for a protective order against Phillips month earlier, in April.
Police said another man assisted Phillips in the attack.
In November 2017, Jonathan Edward Miller of Temple Hills was arrested and charged in the case.
