Don’t be alarmed if you see a large plane flying pretty low to the ground today. It’s most likely just NASA conducting data on air pollution in our area.
The space agency’s P-3B research plane will be gathering data between 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The plane will fly as low as 1,000 feet above the ground along a route that will take it over major roadway traffic corridors.
It is part of a NASA mission to improve the capability of satellites to measure air quality from space.
More than a dozen other flights are planned for our area through July.
