Teacher Accused of Being Drunk at School

Loudoun teacher arrested

A teacher is on administrative leave after being accused of drinking on the job.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a fourth-grade teacher during the school day Wednesday and charged her with being drunk in public.

Laura Ann Collins, 43, of Leesburg, Va., is a teacher at Creighton’s Corner Elementary School in Ashburn.

School personnel called the sheriff’s office shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday and reported that a teacher was believed to be impaired by alcohol.

A member of the School Resource Officer Unit responded and determined that Collins was under the influence of alcohol, officials said.

Collins has been released from jail on bond.
