Radio personality Brian Strobel died on Wednesday after a car hit him while he was walking a dog.

Strobel, who retired in 2007 from WFLS, was walking a dog in the Kingswood subdivision in Spotsylvania County when the accident happened.

A Nissan pick-up truck was traveling south on Kingswood Blvd when it left the road to the right, hiting into a mailbox before striking into Strobel, said the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

The driver called 911 while a witness from the area performed CPR on Strobel until emergency responders arrived.

Storbel was pronounced dead on the scene.

Brian Strobel hosted the morning show at the Fredericksburg station from 1977 until 2007.  His radio career spanned 40 years.
