In some Baltimore neighborhoods, New Year's Eve revelers shoot bullets instead of fireworks. And as in years past, city police are mounting an offensive to, if not put a stop to the celebratory gunfire, at least scare some people into putting away their guns and joining tens of thousands for the sanctioned display of pyrotechnics over the Inner Harbor. 5 SETS OF TWINS BORN
Tonight's blue moon came early to Frederick Memorial Hospital's Birth Place. The hospital's maternal ward had five pregnant women give birth to twins from 8 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m. Wednesday. Melanie Muncy gave birth to fraternal twin girls Wednesday morning during a scheduled cesarean section. (Frederick News Post)
