Howard University Cancels Homecoming Parade

Howard University students and alumni ready for the school’s annual parade were disappointed Friday by its cancellation because of inclimate weather. News4’s Shomari Stone reports on what’s been nixed and what events are still on.

Howard University has cancelled its Homecoming Parade, after rainy, cold and windy weather led some of the parade performers to drop out of the event.

The parade had been scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.

Howard also cancelled the Children's Pavilion which was scheduled for homecoming weekend, a popular event not only for Howard but for the D.C. area.

Howard said all other homecoming events would go on, "including, but not limited to, the Football Game, R&B Concert, Tail Gate, President's Soiree, Alumni Fashion Show, Open Houses, Step Show and Gospel Concert."

Friday's Yardfest also went on, though particpants huddled under umbrellas and in rain jackets.
