Howard University has teamed with Amazon Studios in California to create a program designed to diversify the entertainment industry.

Howard Entertainment creates a pipeline for African-American students to train, study and learn from Amazon entertainment executives.

“This is the first program of its kind with a premier institution like Howard University,” Amazon Studio head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Latasha Gillespie said.

The program starts in January and will have two semesters in Los Angeles.

“I really hope this experience will give me access to the industry professionals that I look up to,” said Z’Kijah Fleming, one of 12 students accepted into the program.

“I hope to learn a lot from this experience because I know Amazon is again one of the greatest companies on the planet,” student John Felder-Washington said
