Here's Who Could See Snow This Week in the DC Area

Storm Team4 has your forecast for Dec. 5, 2018.

Expect to have to bundle up in the D.C. area on Wednesday. Some snow flurries are possible to the west of the city, toward Luray, Winchester and the Shenandoah Valley.

We'll have a high of 40 degrees and low of 31 degrees in D.C. Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 40s to low 30s through the rest of the workweek.

Storm Team4 is tracking a storm system that's expected to move east across the country this week. It's still too early to know for certain how severe an impact it could have on our area.

"Some computer models are putting out over a foot of snow," Meteorologist Amelia Draper said.

But there's good reason to stay tuned to see how the forecast develops.

A weather app says your area will get a foot of snow more than a week from now. Can you trust it? Storm Team4 Meteorologist Amelia Draper shows how much meteorologists can know about a storm when it’s eight days, five days or two days away.

Six to eight days from a potential storm, it's possible to see a pattern. Four to five days out, different scenarios come into view. Two to three days out, meteorologists have a better idea of the timing and impacts of a storm. And one to two days out, professionals know how to advise residents to react, zone by zone.

Storm Team4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer predicts a white winter, with colder-than-average temperatures and plenty of snow.

What is certain now: There's a lot of cold in the forecast for this weekend. Temperatures are expected to be in the 20s and 30s.
