‘Half-Match' Transplant Helps Teen with Sickle Cell Disease

Rhiannon Perry spent years in pain, suffering from strokes, seizures and hallucinations caused by sickle cell disease. The Manassas teenager needed a bone marrow transplant, but she couldn’t find a donor who completely matched. So her doctors at Children’s National Health System turned to a half match procedure, which offered a much longer list of potential donors. News4’s Aimee Cho reports on her progress and the hope for other patients.
