Free A/C Units in Rockville

A Rockville, Md., family gets relief from the extreme heat thanks to a program that gives donated air conditioning units to qualifying families.

We’re all trying just about everything to stay cool this week.

But even after going to the pool, running through a fountain and gorging on ice cream, if you don’t have air conditioning when you get home, you are in for one miserable night.

That’s why the city of Rockville is trying to keep its residents cool by giving out free air conditioning units. The program is primarily for seniors and people with health risks affected by the heat, but any family can apply, especially if their home does not have central air.

Since June, the city has handed out 32 new and lightly used A/C units, all of which have been donated. If you are interested in receiving a unit or have a new or lightly used air conditioner to donate, you can find contact information here.
