Fire in Springfield Damages Two Houses

A fire in Springfield destroyed one home and then leapt to a second, damaging it. News4’s Megan McGrath reports.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that severely damaged two Springfield homes early Wednesday.

A large fire devastated the house at 6240 Willowfield Way, and then spread to an adjacent home, damaging its roof.

Neighbors told News4's Megan McGrath that the first house was vacant at the time. A family of three living in the neighboring house will be displaced.

No injuries were reported. Fire damage was estimated at $482,000 for the first home and about $200,000 for the second.

Willowfield Road was closed to traffic as firefighters continued to hose down the houses and investigate. They were able to get the fire under control in about 45 minutes.
