High school girls from across Montgomery County have the chance to learn important skills to prepare for job interviews, college and the work force. News4’s Darcy Spencer reports on how women are helping girls “Prepare for Success.”
Hundreds of Montgomery County teen girls will attend a symposium this weekend to learn all about proper behavior during job or college interviews.
"Preparing for Success" has been hosted annually by the Montgomery County Women's Bar Association since 2001.
“We really try to focus on not just the kids going off to college and know what their plan is, we also try and focus on girls who may not know what they’re going to do,” County Judge Karla Smith said.
Watkins Mill High School junior Katherine Anaya attended last year's session, and plans on attending this year as well.
“They taught us how being successful is not only about being rich,” Anaya said. “We learned there’s some universities that actually check Facebook, your Twiter to see what you’re saying, what you’re doing and what kind of student you’re being and what kind of person you are in general.”
The event includes a fashion show, where items from Rockville's Red Hue Boutique will be modeled.
“A lot of times, club wear gets confused with work wear,” boutique owner Silvia Huezo said.

"Preparing for Success" will be held starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Montgomery College. Attendees are asked to wear professional clothing.
