Police are looking for the driver of a car that struck a Redskins fan leaving FedEx Field after the team's Monday night game earlier this month.
The Redskins game against the New York Giants on Dec. 21 was a blowout. David Cook Sr., 48, and his son were among the many Skins fans who left the game early. While stopped at a red light on Landover Road, Cook apparently had second thoughts and said it was not right to leave the game. He exited the car to return to FedEx Field and was struck by a gray Honda Accord. The driver fled the scene. Police who were directing traffic at the Landover red light were unable to get a tag number for the car.
The victim's family said they can't believe the driver did not stop.
"Emotionally, it leaves us wondering who did this, how could they not stop, how could you do this to another human being," said David Cook, Jr. "My mom is at my dad's side every minute she can, all through the day. All you can think about is if he's going to be OK."
