Family members of slain letter carrier Tyson Barnette came from homes in South Carolina to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial asking the U.S. Post office to end cuts and understaffing that leave letter carriers delivering after dark, which can be dangerous.
They say Dr. King was a fighter for justice and they want justice.
Barnette was killed in his truck in a hail of bullets in Prince George’s County about 7:20 p.m. Nov. 23, a Saturday night.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Prince George's County police retraced Barnette’s route looking for witnesses, knocking on doors, asking drivers, offering a $125,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the killer, but after almost two months, investigators have made no arrests.
