Extradition has been granted for a D.C. teenager who Montgomery County police call a potential suspect in the slaying of an American University professor at her Bethesda home.
D.C. Superior Court Chief Judge Lee Satterfield ordered on Wednesday that 18-year-old Deandrew Hamlin be extradited to Maryland. He is charged with being a fugitive from justice.
Professor Sue Marcum was found dead in her home in October. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide and determined that the cause of death was asphyxia and blunt force trauma.
Hamlin was taken into custody after police say he crashed an SUV missing from Marcum's home during a chase. Police have said a search of Hamlin's home on a warrant related to the slaying turned up items of evidentiary value. He is not charged in the slaying.
