Dinwiddie Co. Man Killed While Making Fireworks, Authorities Say

Authorities found large quantity of fireworks-making material in trailer where explosion occurred

The victim of an explosion in Dinwiddie County had been making fireworks, said deputy county fire marshal Nick Sheffield.

The man was making fireworks Sunday morning in a trailer when the explosion occurred, Sheffield said. He was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he died later that day.

The victim's name hasn't been released. No other injuries were reported.

Dinwiddie County Fire and EMS chief Dennis Hale said there was a large quantity of fireworks-making material in the trailer.

It's illegal in Dinwiddie County to manufacture, possess or sell fireworks.
