Mother of Four Kids Deandria M. Conyers Found Dead in Southeast D.C. home

A young mother of four was shot and killed inside her apartment in southeast Washington earlier this month, but there is still no suspect and no motive in Deandria Conyers’ murder. News4’s Pat Collins reports.

A D.C. mother of four young children was found shot to death inside her Southeast apartment Sunday.

Police say Deandria M. Conyers' grandfather found her body just before 9 p.m. on Sunday. Two of her four children were home when she was shot to death. They were uninjured.

"I was in total shock," said Conyers' grandfather, Michael Conyers. "I was hysterical. I could not call 911 fast enough."

Family and friends told News4 that Conyers, 27, had just moved into her apartment in the 2000 block of Ridgecrest Court SE. There was no sign of forced entry.

Her grandfather said she would feed and shelter people who she didn't know well -- something he thinks may have led to her death.

"The monster that did it ... needs to be caught," Michael Conyers said.

Police are offering a $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest in Conyers' death.
