D.C. underpaid or overpaid hundreds of poll workers for the primary election in June.

The D.C. government underpaid 142 workers a total of $43,000. The District said it has since sent extra checks to those men and women to make up the difference.

Another 120 workers were overpaid as much as $1,000. D.C. asked those workers to give back the extra money.

D.C. Board of Elections emails obtained by the News4 I-Team blame problems with how data was entered during the primary season. In those same emails, the board of elections said, "The mistake was unfortunate, but it happens."

In a statement Friday, the board of elections said it is "fully ready" for the general election.
