DC Teacher Named National History Teacher of the Year

McKinley Technology High School teacher Alysha Butler was named National History Teacher of the Year. She is the first ever in the District. Her lessons include looks at unsung figures in black history. “I didn’t see any of their stories in my textbooks growing up but I would hear them around the dinner table, and I really want my students to know and be transformed by that unknown voice,” she said. News4’s Molette Green reports.
