Man Restrains Murder Suspect Near Convention Center

A witness to a Sunday morning shooting restrained the suspect until police arrived, according to authorities.

Around 2:30 a.m., a shooting occured on the 1200 block of 11th Street NW, near the Convention Center.  When police arrived, they said they found a man suffering from a shooting wound.  The victim, 24-year-old Jose Hernandez-Romero, was transported to the hospital, but died of his wounds.

At the scene, investigators said that 24-year-old Alexis Pineda was being restrained by another man.  Pineda was arrested as the suspect in the homicide.  Police said a gun was found nearby.
