DC Firefighters Rescue Dog From Burning Home

D.C. Fire and EMS rescued a dog from a burning home in northwest Washington Monday afternoon.

Firefighters found the 3-year-old Italian sheepdog, named Cesare, in a two-story house in the 4500 block of Klingle Street, Northwest, and began life-saving efforts at the scene to get the dog breathing, D.C. Fire and EMS said.

Firefighters took Cesare to Friendship Animal Hospital, where it is listed in critical condition

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, D.C. Fire and EMS said. No one else was inside the house.

One firefighter suffered a minor bite while rescuing the dog.
