DC Council Moves to Repeal Law to Raise Tipped Worker Wages

Tipped workers won’t be getting a planned raise this month after D.C. Council approved emergency legislation to stave off Initiative 77. That bill would have increased the minimum wage for tipped workers in the District, but opponents say it will hurt restaurant owners and decrease workers’ tips. Things were heated at a meeting where eight council members voted to repeal the law entirely. News4’s Mark Segraves reports.
