Day Care Evacuated Due to Partial Building Collapse Next Door

News4’s Kristin Wright reports live from Northeast D.C. where firefighters are working to stabilize a partial building collapse on 18th Street near a daycare.

A day care in northeast D.C. was evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to a partial building collapse next door.

Two buildings next to the day care in the 3400 block of 18th Street NE were under demolition, but this structural collapse was not planned, News4's Kristin Wright reported.

No one inside the day care was injured. They weren’t aware of a problem until they were told to evacuated.

Pepco went to the scene to shut off power so engineers can investigate what happened.
