Two D.C. firefighters were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Thursday after responding to a fire in Northwest D.C.

Fire and EMS responded to a two-story home fire in the 3400 block of Quebec Street NW Thursday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The two firefighters suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to local hospitals.

Officials said the fire started in the attic of the home.

"We saw just a little bit of smoke, and some power went out," the home's owner said. "I was in the process of putting my son to bed and all his lights were out. We immediately went downstairs and called 911."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
