Two Injured in Woodley Park Apartment Fire

News4’s Shomari Stone is live from Woodley Park, where one firefighter and one civilian were injured in a house fire Monday evening.

Two people were injured in a two-alarm fire at an apartment building near the Woodley Park Metro station in Northwest D.C. Monday.

Crews responded to the 2500 block of Calvert Street NW just before 6 p.m. and saw heavy fire coming from the building's fifth floor.

"I've never seen anything like it," witness Nick Teske said. "That fire was shooting out of the windows... it was insane."

One firefighter was injured and another individual was hospitalized. At least three residents of the building were displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials estimate damage to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.
