Couple in Just Tires Shirts Robs Advance Auto Parts

A couple robbed an auto parts store Sunday night in Takoma Park, but they left some pretty big clues behind. News4’s Pat Collins reports.

A man and a woman both wearing Just Tires shirts robbed an Advance Auto Parts in Takoma Park Sunday night, police said.

The two posed as customers and entered the store in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Avenue before 8 p.m. and one of them showed a handgun, police said. They accosted a customer in the store and restrained him with flexi-cuffs.

After taking cash from the case drawers, they ordered the manager to open the safe and then restrained him with flexi-cuffs, police said.

During the course of the robbery, the couple removed and replaced their masks multiple times. He wore a Halloween-style mask, while she had a black knit ski mask.

The couple fled on foot through the back of the establishment.

The victims were not seriously injured.

Police are looking for a black man about 25-30 years old standing 5-foot-8 with medium build and a shaved head and possibly a beard, and a black woman of about the same age and height with medium build. She wore her hair in a bun. Both wore long sleeve shirts that looked like those worn by employees of Just Tires: black and green with a horizontal yellow stripe and the Just Tires logo.

Anyone who recognizes the man and woman in the surveillance image should call police at 301-270-100.
