Children Injured on NE Hayride

WASHINGTON -- Several children were injured while on a hayride in northeast Washington.

The truck in which the children were riding at Langdon Elementary School crashed. As many as nine children were riding in the pickup's bed.

A water bottle rolled under the brake pedal, and the woman driving the truck couldn't stop it, fire officials said. The truck, which was traveling at about 10 to 15 mph, struck a fence and a tree.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services checked out 12 people. One adult and three children were taken to a hospital.
