Car Crashes Into Building Near Dupont Circle, 1 Injured

A car somehow drove up onto a sidewalk near D.C.'s Dupont Circle and slammed into a building Saturday, leaving one person injured, police say.

The crash happened about 12:48 p.m. near the intersection of 18th Street and P Street NW.

Photos show that the gray Toyota Corolla crashed through a black gate surrounding the American Enterprise Institute building. The front end of the car fell into a gap between the building and the sidewalk.

One of the car’s hubcaps laid on the mulch a few feet away.

D.C. Fire Department and EMS said it evaluated four people and took one person to a hospital with serious, non-threatening life injuries.

There was no structural damage to the building.
