Woman finds man dead in Fort Lincoln Park

A homicide investigation launched Monday after someone found a body in Fort Lincoln Park in northeast Washington, right behind an elementary school. News4’s Pat Collins reports on the search for a killer.

A body was found in Fort Lincoln Park behind Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in northeast D.C. Monday morning.

A woman walking her dog about 11 a.m. found the body of 58-year-old Anthony Garland Rice, police said. He appeared to be shot, with a cigarette still in his mouth.

The scene is a popular park around the corner from the new Costco.

“Fort Lincoln is really a quiet, calm, safe community, and this is pretty unusual,” D.C. police Cmdr. Andy Solberg said.
