Blowing Stuff Up on the National Mall

A CPSC demonstration was held on the National Mall Tuesday morning to show just how dangerous fireworks can be. It was a safety reminder ahead of the July Fourth celebrations. The agency stressed the danger of backyard pyrotechnics. Government officials say never stand directly over fireworks when lighting the fuse and don’t try to re-light or pickup fireworks that don’t fully ignite. The CPSC also says avoid buying fireworks packaged in brown paper — which is often not professionally made. Never let a young children handle fireworks.
