Cyclist Killed in Southeast DC Hit-and-Run

The driver hit a man near Pennsylvania Avenue SE and fled, police say

A bicyclist is in critical condition after he was struck by a car in Southeast Washington Thursday morning. News4’s Darcy Spencer has more on the search for the driver.

A cyclist was hit and killed in Southeast D.C. early Thursday by a driver who fled, D.C. police said. 

The man was hit and critically hurt about 1 a.m. on the 2700 block of Minnesota Avenue SE, just north of Pennsylvania Avenue and near the John Phillip Souza Bridge. 

The driver fled before police arrived. 

The cyclist's bike and shoes remained on the scene early Thursday, as an accident reconstruction team took photos. Roads in the area were blocked temporarily.

The cyclist was not identified immediately, and no information on the driver or car was released.
