Arrest Made in String of Taxi Driver Robberies

A suspected has been arrested in a string of robberies targeting taxi drivers in the Manassas, Virginia area.

Matthew Jamaal Brown, 24, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with three counts of robbery.

Prince William County Police say Brown matched the description of the suspect in several recent robberies and had a knife in his possession when he was spotted by officers patrolling the area of Ashton Avenue and Sudley Manor Drive Wednesday.

On Monday, a 62-year-old driver picked up a man at the Manassas Mall Wal-Mart  and drove him to Sudley Manor Drive, where the passenger pulled out a knife, snatched the driver's cash and took off running.

Police say the same man robbed a driver at Vernon Street and Tower Place the next day.

Three other robberies have been reported since Dec. 9.

Police say additional charges against Brown are pending.
