Arrest in Slaying of Bail Bondswoman

Victim was client of suspect

Police in Howard County have charged a Columbia man with the murder of a bail bondswoman.

Dominique Davon McDonald, 21, is accused of killing Nichole McNair.

Investigators said McDonald arranged to meet McNair Monday night to make a payment on money owed for a recent bail.

Neighbors in the area of the meeting called police around 10 p.m. to report a gunshot.

Officers discovered McNair in the parking lot of an apartment building suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was taken to Howard County hospital in critical condition but later died.

Witnesses told police they saw a man in a hooded jacket run from the scene.

Police found the victim's car at the scene still running.

During a search of the vehicle, they found evidence indicating she was collecting a payment from McDonald.

A search of the area yielded McNair's cell phone and part of another cell phone that was later determined to belong to McDonald.

Investigators located the suspect and found a jacket with a hood, a loaded handgun, and the other part of the cell phone.

McDonald is charged with first and second degree murder.

He's being held in Howard County Detention Center on $2 million bond.
