Are Retailers Ready for Chip-Enabled Cards?

The credit card industry’s self-imposed deadline for chip-enabled cards will come and go with many merchants not ready to accept them Oct. 1. Mercator Advisory Group in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts is a research firm that advises the banking and payment industry. It told News4 the industry is way behind, and a large percentage of merchants will not have the chip readers working until next year.
