Rare Air: Architect of the Capitol Flies Drone Above Dome

The architect of the U.S. Capitol got permission to fly a drone around the dome.

A rare sight in D.C.'s no-fly zone Friday morning: A drone buzzed the U.S. Capitol dome.

Drones are not allowed in our highly restricted airspace, but the architect of the Capitol got permission to fly, U.S. Capitol Police said.

They were taking video and pictures of the ongoing restoration project at the complex.
